Departure to Veliko Tarnovo in the morning. The town is the medieval Bulgarian capital city. It lies picturesque at the meanders of Yantra River. Veliko Tarnovo flourished mostly during the II Bulgarian Kingdom 1187-1393, when it turned to a political, cultural and spiritual centre of Bulgaria. The best place to feel the impressive town history is Tzarevetz hill with the ruins of the King's palace and the reconstructed Patriarch church.
The towns face is created by the old houses from the 18th and 19th century, amphitheatricly situated on the hills above Yantra River. The old commercial street presents living traditional crafts and keeps evidence of the atmosphere of the Bulgarian National Revival Period 18th - 19th century. The excursion includes also a visit to Arbanasi village, known for its fine old houses, churches and monasteries from the 16th-17th century. Lunch in the village - typical for the area Bulgarian dishes.
