Varna is the third largest town in Bulgaria. It was here where the oldest gold treasure in the world 4,600 years B.C. was found. In 585 B.C. Greek colonists from Asia Minor founded a town, called Odessos. During the Roman Empire the town developed as an important trade centre. The name Varna appears first in the 4 century A.D. and is Slavic origin. Today Varna is a big industrial, cultural and tourism centre.
The excursion includes a visit of the attractive rocky monastery Aladzha and the natural phenomenon Stone forest stone columns on sandy bottom, remained as an evidence of the existence of ancient sea. The excursion ends in a cozy wine cellar with a tasting of 6 different Bulgarian wines and appetizers. On the way back is a panoramic tour of Varna by night.
